Waste recycling, SeAH Besteel-SG Contract for supplying environment friendly asphalt concrete slag signed

SeAH Besteel Waste recycling, SeAH Besteel-SG Contract for supplying environment friendly asphalt concrete slag signed

SeAH Besteel has been continuously developing ways to maximize the added value of steel by-products and create resource circulation methods. As a result of these efforts, on January 23, SeAH Besteel and SG jointly developed environmentally friendly asphalt concrete aggregate using slag from the steel-making process and signed a slag supply contract.

Through this contract, SeAH Besteel plans to supply 100,000 tons of steel slag to SG annually starting from 2025, which will be used to produce environmentally friendly asphalt concrete. SG is the only company in Korea that has obtained a patent for manufacturing environmentally friendly asphalt using steel slag and has successfully commercialized it.

The produced EcoSteel asphalt concrete has excellent advantages such as longer lifespan, higher strength, reduced noise, and reduced fine dust compared to regular asphalt concrete.

This product has proven its performance through various projects such as the Second Gyeongbu Expressway and Seoul City road projects, and it is expected to be used in future road repair projects in Ukraine.

SeAH Besteel plans to continuously strengthen its environment friendly management by maximizing the utilization of steel by-products, improving the quality and lifespan of road paving, and replacing natural resource extraction through this collaboration.

Implementation of safety inspection activities for building a safe workplace

SeAH Besteel Implementation of safety inspection activities for building a safe workplace

SeAH Besteel has been conducting safety inspection activities every week since the fourth week of September 2024, targeting executives, team leaders, and partner companies. To this end, theme-based guidebooks have been created and distributed. So far, safety inspection activities have been conducted over 17 sessions, and through thorough inspections and education, the safety culture is being expanded.

SeAH Besteel’s safety inspection activities are centered around practical safety inspections for each theme. The inspections for each theme cover practical content that can be applied to the field, beyond simple theoretical education, playing a crucial role in maintaining a safe working environment for workers.

Starting from this year, the safety inspection activities will be divided into the first and second weeks. In the first week, theme-based safety inspection education focusing on theory will be conducted, and in the second week, feedback on practical on-site inspection activities based on the content learned will be provided.

Through this, employees can apply what they learned in education directly in the field and increase awareness of safety accident occurrences.

SeAH Besteel plans to lead the establishment of a safety culture in the steel industry through this activity and continue safety inspections and show improvement efforts, thereby having a positive impact on the industry as a whole.

*16 themes: electrical panels, ladders, safety railings, TBM, harnesses, MSDS, forklifts, hazardous machinery, LOTO system and communication, confined space work, safety protective gear, grounding and leakage circuit breakers, scaffolding, openings, management guidelines by work process, cranes.
