SeAH’s sharing campaign plants seeds of new hope

There are many ways to make the world a better place. One of them is sharing what we have with others. When people come together to help, those who have lost hope can begin to find happiness again.

Since 2015, SeAH has partnered with Holt Children’s Services to run a sharing campaign. This campaign supports children in need of surgery or medical treatment by covering their medical expenses. It offers not just financial assistance, but also hope for a better tomorrow. Most recently, the campaign supported a boy named Yoochan, who suffered a severe brain injury after falling from an apartment building. Thanks to donations from SeAH employees, Yoochan is now receiving ongoing treatment and care.

    Update on Yoochan’s recovery

Yoochan had a terrible fall from the 8th floor of an apartment building and suffered many serious injuries, including diffuse brain damage, cerebral hemorrhage pelvic fractures, liver injury, and spastic quadriplegia. Thankfully, with ongoing treatment, he can now make simple conversations and has started to crawl and slowly stand with support. However, he is still unable to carry out daily activities on his own without assistance.

To help with Yoochan’s treatment, SeAH held a special fundraising campaign from December to January. With strong support from employees, the campaign raised a total of 8.529 million KRW. Using the donated funds, Yoochan began speech and cognitive therapy in March of this year. Recently, his cognitive abilities have improved significantly, allowing him to learn the Hangul, the Korean alphabet, and numbers.

He has also regained enough mobility to take small steps with the help of someone supporting his shoulders or hips, and his core strength is gradually improving as well. Though his recovery is slow, Yoochan is making progress every day.

Thanks to the compassion of SeAH employees, Yoochan can now continue his treatment without worrying about financial difficulties. His parents are also holding onto hope and doing their best every day to help him recover.

“Thanks to your love and support, we will never give up and continue to do our best so that Yoochan can return to his life before the accident. Thank you very much.”

In a handwritten letter, Yoochan’s mother expressed her heartfelt gratitude and shared her commitment to continue doing her utmost for her child’s treatment. The warm encouragement from many of our employees has become a big support to Yoochan and his family to strive for recovery.

Spreading the value of sharing through ‘matching gifts’

SeAH is also spreading the value of sharing through its matching gift program, in which the company contributes an amount equal to what employees donate. These funds are then given to Holt Children’s Services to support children in medical crisis. The 8.529 million KRW raised through this matching gift program will help cover treatment costs for children like Yoochan.

Among them is Nawon, a 4-year-old girl who was developing normally until she suffered cardiac arrest during a lung cyst removal surgery at 14 months old, which resulted in brain lesion disorder.

Today, Nawon can hold her head up but cannot walk or stand alone. She urgently needs a Mustang walker, a walking aid for children, to move on her own. However, there is no rental options available that fit her body size, and her family cannot afford to buy one due to financial difficulties. As a result, Nawon spends most of her time indoors.

If Nawon can move on her own with the help of a Mustang walker, it will greatly boost her emotional well-being and self-esteem.

SeAH’s warm-hearted support has become a meaningful foundation for children and their families in crisis, giving them the strength to continue their journey of hope. We hope SeAH’s spirit of sharing reaches even more children and families—so that we can build a brighter and more beautiful world together.
