SeAH Besteel Holdings, Acquires Carbon Footprint Verification International Standard
SeAH Besteel Holdings (CEO Lee, Taesung and Kim, Suho) has acquired verification for the international standard "ISO 14607" carbon footprint calculation solution, embarking on full-scale implementation of carbon neutrality.
SeAH Besteel Holdings announced on the 21st that it received conformity verification for the international standard "ISO 14067" carbon footprint calculation solution for all special steel products produced by its subsidiaries SeAH Besteel and SeAH CSS from the internationally accredited certification body Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).
"ISO 14067" is an international standard established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to measure carbon emissions occurring throughout the entire life cycle of a product as objective and quantified data. This "ISO 14067" carbon footprint verification of SeAH Besteel Holdings recognizes the reliability of the carbon emission measurement and management solution established by SeAH Besteel and SeAH CSS at their domestic business sites.
In fact, SeAH Besteel Holdings has been working for the past 2 years to classify and refine standardized carbon emission data for all special steel products according to specifications such as length produced at each business site, and through this, has established a carbon emission calculation system that occurs throughout the entire life cycle of the product, from raw material procurement to the entire production process, shipment, transportation, and final recycling.
SeAH Besteel Holdings plans to strengthen carbon neutrality activities that meet global standards by disclosing highly reliable information to stakeholders through carbon footprint verification of special steel products, while continuously expanding supply contracts and cooperation with global parts companies in Europe and the Americas.
Meanwhile, SeAH Besteel Holdings has also completed third-party verification by Lloyd's Register for the staged greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the international standard Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol), including direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1, 2) from business sites and indirect emissions outside business sites (Scope 3), enabling them to increase the consistency of greenhouse gas emission calculations.
A SeAH Besteel Holdings official said, "The carbon footprint verification for all special steel products is meaningful in that it has laid the foundation for effectively responding to the international community's carbon neutrality requirements, including the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism," and added, "In the mid to long term, we plan to establish a management roadmap for carbon neutrality by 2050 and pursue activities to reduce carbon emissions, such as transitioning to low-carbon raw materials and expanding renewable energy."
